Nettle Tonic

I loved making this nettle tonic from 'The Handmade Apothecary' (Chown & Walker, 2017).  The book is beautiful and speaks my herbal language as the authors graduated from the same herbal medicine course that I did.

The recipe uses brandy, red wine and molasses, resulting in a taste reminiscent of sherry. I substituted bramble leaves for raspberry leaves as they both have high nutrient value.

It really was an enjoyable daily treat, whilst topping up my iron levels naturally. I also shared some as a taster during a talk & tasting I did with a WI group. There were lots of keen receivers!

I recommend you try it. Basically, just chop, soak for 2 weeks, strain and consume 15mls twice daily. Delicious and nutritious!
